Hike Nakalele Blowhole - Thursday, February 17th

Maui is full of natural wonder and from what Justin and I have been told, there is always something new to discover. Like the spectacular view of the Nakalele Blowhole. Just past Kapalua, there are some cliffs where the ocean has pounded away at the lava formations creating a man-sized hole in the lava! When the tide is right, the water from the ocean crashes into the cliff and splashes straight through the hole creating a "blowhole" effect.
A great hiking trail leads to this magnificent sight. There is a small parking lot near mile marker 38 on HWY 30. It is about a 30 minute hike to the blowhole on mostly flat terrain with excellent views.
HOW TO PREPARE: The hike is described as not strenuous, however, it is along the cliffs so the wind may be strong. As with any hiking, wear good shoes (flip flops might leave you with some scratched toes...). Some people like to get close to the blowhole and take pictures by it, please be careful, with the strong wind and the powerful waves crashing it can lead to a potentially dangerous situation. Other than that, be sure to bring your camera!
