The Proposal
Justin and I are very excited to start this new chapter of our lives. The following is actually an old post from our blog, but we are posting it again for those of you who missed it the first time. So how did it happen you ask? Well read on for a brief recap of the wonderful proposal ;)
A Hectic Schedule...
Well as you know, I just recently bought a home here in San Diego. The one bed, one bath condo was in great condition and only required a few minor fixes and some paint. Justin and I have been working very hard this month, December, to get ready for move in and basically making it a home. Long story short, we have not really had a chance to enjoy the holiday season or take some time to breath!
Last Minute Idea...
If you do not know, I (laura) am a HUGE fan of Disneyland. One of my favorite things to do there is trade Disney pins, it's kind of a hobby of mine. Experiencing Disneyland during the holidays is something Justin has never had a chance to do. I have only done it once. Justin briefly mentioned here and there that a trip to the magical place before the holiday season ends would be fun. Of course I jumped on that suggestion and offered Christmas Eve as an option. The week of Christmas we made last minute plans to take a break from the house work and take some times for ourselves in the happiness place on earth.
The Happiness Trifecta
The Happiness Trifecta is something Justin came up with on the way up to Disneyland. It is: The Happiest Place on Earth (Disneyland) + The Happiest Time (or Day) of the Year (Christmas Eve) + The One You Love! Pretty much Happiness to the third power ;D Needless to say we were very excited about the trip and the time to just spend with each other and enjoy each others company.
The day was going beautifully. Even though we got a later start, the park was not super busy. We got in the front of our favorite rides and loved all the holiday decorations and addition or changes that Disney did inside the park.
The Surpise Christmas Gift! - The Proposal
I thought since the trip was last minute we were supposed to do Disneyland on the Skinny - or pretty much brown baggin' it by packing a lunch. Or as Justin put it, "A romantic picnic lunch." After a morning of rides and holiday fun it was now time for our picnic lunch. We tried a small quite place that we like to visit by the castle but there were no benches to sit on. We ended up on a bench right in front of none other than Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
We started out with a regular picnic, but Justin was very intent on watching me which was interesting. Finally his excitement got the best of him and he burst out, "I can't wait anymore, I want to give you you're gift." To which he then hands me a Disneyland bag. Inside the bag is a single Disney pin.
Well of course I am looking at this pin and trying to register what it means. Justin is talking to me, I hear his voice but nothing is registering yet. He's saying something like "you see what Mickey is doing?" At this point I look up to see my Justin on one knee in front of me with a ring. The most beautiful ring I have ever seen. And then I see Justin crying and just looking at me. Of course I start crying, so we're both crying. I stupidly blurt out, "Is this real?" He ways yes. I then blurt out, "Is that real?" pointing at the ring. He chuckles and says yes patiently again... but then he hands it to me and begins to sit down again. I immediately stop him and say, "but wait you didn't ask me!" He lovingly gets back on his knee and asks those three words that mean so much, "will you marry me?" Of course I said yes!
And that's that! It was the most magical moment at the most magical place on earth on the most magical day, the Happiness Trifecta!
And they lived happily ever after...
